PTA Reflections

What is Reflections? Reflections is a National PTA-sponsored arts recognition program that encourages artistic expression. Students are challenged to use their imagination to create a film, song, artwork, photograph, poem, short story or dance routine. 

Eligibility: Participation in Reflections is free for ACMS PTA members. The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member. If you are unsure if you are a member or need financial assistance, please contact ACMS PTA Membership at membership@acmspta.org or Join PTA today!! Memberships need to be renewed each year beginning in August.

Eligible students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category are permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the national theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by National PTA.

• Dance Choreography
• Film Production
• Literature
• Music Composition
• Photography
• Visual Arts 

Rules and Guidelines: Rules and guidelines for each category are available here. Please disregard packaging information on these guidelines. Turn in your submission with an entry form. The Reflections Chair will ensure advancing entries are packaged for the district-level competition.

Accessible Arts Division: Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Accessible Arts Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities. The Accessible Arts Division welcomes all grades and all abilities and offers non-artistic accommodations (e.g., adaptive technology, transcribing, holding a camera) for students to participate fully in PTA Reflections.

Judging and Awards: All entries will be judged by artists in their medium. Arbor Creek entrants will be recognized at one of four levels: Award of Excellence, Award of Merit, Honorable Mention, and Participation. Students will be recognized with medals, and their artwork will be displayed at our annual Reflections Art Show at ACMS. Those receiving an Award of Excellence will move on to our district-level program.

LISD PTA hosts a recognition event for district winners. Here is an outline of the awards and recognition received if the entry advances to Texas PTA and National PTA.

ENTRIES ARE DUE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18 

Visual Arts entries should be turned in to the ACMS Library.

All other entries can be turned in electronically by emailing reflections@acmspta.org.
